Proficiency testing programs
Lake Balance is an ISO/IEC 17043 accredited PT provider. This catalog lists our calibration proficiency testing programs — the same kits we ship to labs that need independent evidence for an accreditation body or an internal quality plan. Search by instrument or browse each discipline below.
Most programs are $695 plus $100 per extra participant, plus shipping. The kit ships the same day payment is received. Participants get pass/fail the same day their results are reviewed. For scale and force PTs, you report the scale's calibration uncertainty with each reading.

Mass, scale and balance proficiency testing

Bench scale proficiency test using weights totaling 11 kg. Evaluate your scale calibration quality system.

Bench scale proficiency test using a set of test weights totaling 15 kg. Calibrate your scale with your own weights, then report readings and uncertainty at 5 kg, 10 kg, and 15 kg. Requires a scale with at least 15 kg capacity and 0.001 kg readability.

Analytical balance proficiency test using a set of test weights totaling 200 g. Calibrate your balance with your own weights, then report readings and uncertainty at 20 g, 30 g, 50 g, 100 g, and 200 g. Requires a balance with at least 200 g capacity and 0.1 mg readability.

Top-loading balance and small scale proficiency test using 1 kg and 2 kg test weights. Calibrate your balance with your own weights, then report readings and uncertainty at 1 kg, 2 kg, and 3 kg. Requires a balance with at least 3,000 g capacity and 0.01 g readability.

The primary purpose of this PT is to provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate proficiency in the calibration of a Class F weight set. By participating, participants will demonstrate technical competence for the measurement parameters associated with weights of similar size and weight class.
Pipette proficiency testing

The primary purpose of this PT is to provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate proficiency in the calibration of a pipette. This PT kit contains an Eppendorf 1000 µL pipette. Participants will use their standard lab procedures to perform measurements.

Proficiency test for pipette calibration at 300 µL. Demonstrate technical competence with volumetric pipettes.
Dimensional proficiency testing

The primary purpose of this PT is to provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate proficiency in the calibration of a 1” micrometer. This PT kit contains a Mitutoyo 1” micrometer. Participants will use their standard lab procedures to perform 4 measurements.

The primary purpose of this PT is to provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate proficiency in the calibration of a 6” caliper. This PT kit contains a Mitutoyo 6” caliper. Participants will use their standard lab procedures to perform 5 measurements.
Pressure gauge proficiency testing

The primary purpose of this PT is to provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate proficiency in the calibration of a 10,000 psig pressure gauge. This PT kit contains a Crystal XP2i 10,000 psig pressure gauge. Participants will use their standard lab procedures to perform measurements.

The primary purpose of this PT is to provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate proficiency in the calibration of a 3.5-digit digital handheld multimeter. This PT kit contains a Fluke 179, 3.5 digit digital multimeter.
Force and load cell proficiency testing

The primary purpose of this PT is to provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate proficiency in the calibration of a 500 lb. load cell. This PT kit contains a Rice Lake 500 lb. load cell with an Ohaus readout. Participants will use their standard lab procedures to perform measurements.
